Controversy trails FUOYE VC swearing in as he is accused of corruption A Non-governmental organization has demanded that the proposed inauguration of the new Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye, Ekiti (FUOYE) Prof. Abayomi Fasina be put to a halt over alleged corrupt practices.

The group named Network for Positive Democracy in Nigeria (NPDN) released a statement signed by its Director of Publicity and Strategy, Comrade Johnson Chukwuemeka, stating that the swearing-in of Prof. Fasina stands to ridicule the federal government’s position on fighting corruption, and extols the use of ”short cuts” in getting things done.

The NPDN alleges that Fasina has no moral right to lead an institution as FUOYE, claiming that he has at least five petitions against him before the ICPC, CCB, Minister of Education, National University Commission, and the Presidency, including indictment for the collection of double salary as a staff of FUOYE.

The statement maintains that the group was acting in the public interest, and called on all the necessary authorities to ensure Prof. Abayomi Fasina is not sworn in as the new Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Oye, Ekiti as his inauguration could lead to several protests and legal actions.
